Water Department In Tampa, Florida Selects Induction Lighting Over LED

Department Uses EverLast® to Lower Utility Bills, and Maintenance Costs

Jackson, MI– September 20, 2012 – The Water Department in Tampa, Florida began research for a lighting upgrade earlier this spring with the goal of cutting energy costs at their local facility. An upgrade in lighting would enhance efficiency of the facility but the building had stringent criterion to meet before installation of any fixtures. The city of Tampa reached out to JAG Lighting of Winter Springs, Florida to find a solution that match their lighting specifications. They replaced 50 of their 250 watt Metal Halide wall packs with 120 watt EverLast® Induction wall packs. "The reason that they went with EverLast® was because they were looking at alternatives to LED products. When considering lamp life, return on investment, product cost, and maintenance cost reduction, EverLast® fit that criterion across the board," said Rick Graddy, Vice President of JAG Lighting Solutions.

The EverLast® products were recommended based on their reliability and warranty to the City of Tampa, and were also more cost effective as compared to LED. As the City made its initial moves for capital improvement to replace some aging poles and fixtures; they decided to look at what was available for lighting with longer lamp life and improved efficiencies. During design for that project the department also decided to create a master lighting plan for the rest of the facility and start an in house project to upgrade the lighting over time. After reviewing the master lighting plan it was evident that they would benefit in replacing the lighting with a more aggressive schedule instead of waiting for them to fail.

The EverLast® 120 watt Classic Wall Pack fixtures provide a more natural and high color rendition light quality unlike traditional Metal Halide fixtures. EverLast® Induction lighting fixtures are also available with a dimmable option, providing even more energy savings while areas are vacant. Furthermore, induction lighting uses 60 percent less energy and has an unmatched 100,000 hour lamp life.

"We have seen a tremendous increase in the number of inquiries and sales for Induction Lighting products in the last several years. A great many customers had never heard of Induction Lighting technology until they started looking at increasing energy efficiencies and reducing maintenance costs associated with site, street, and facility lighting. Many customers began their search looking at the relatively new LED lighting technology. The high cost of LED products and the relatively short history of field installations led many of them to look for alternatives," stated Graddy.
