EverLast® Lighting Selected Yet Again In A Massive Expo
Lighting Upgrade
JACKSON, MICHIGAN – February
17th, 2014 – The Gatlinburg Convention Center, featuring the modern and
spacious W.L. Mills Conference Center, is located in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and can
accommodate any number of attendees from small groups of 10 up to 6,000. With over 148,000 square feet of flexible
meeting and exhibition space, the facility offers countless combinations, from
expansive halls and auditoriums to meeting and board rooms.
In the summer of 2013, the Gatlinburg
Convention Center partnered with Sizemore Performance to complete an initiative
to significantly improve their interior lighting. “We had wanted to upgrade our lighting at the
Convention Center for years, but we didn’t want to go with just any
solution. We wanted the best,” commented
Scott Murphy, Facility Engineer at the Gatlinburg Convention Center.
The Center is a thoroughly professional organization
dedicated to making meetings more efficient, effective and economical by
offering both a better facility and better service. “They
compared EverLast® to several T5, T8, and LED fixtures throughout the
process. None of the rival technology
measured up in terms of reduced maintenance costs, and light distribution,”
explained Bruce Sizemore, Representative of Sizemore Performance. “Even though they knew what they wanted, it
wasn’t a quick process. The facility
managers really took the time to evaluate each fixture, and grade its
performance. In this application,
EverLast® was ahead of the other technologies by leaps and bounds.”
Subsequently, the Convention Center
replaced 400 watt metal halide high bay fixtures with EverLast® 250 watt
induction lights. “We had never seen
induction before so we were very interested in what it could do. The 400 watt metal halide fixtures that were
previously lighting the facility had a lot of heat problems, and were very slow
to turn on before events. We elected to
not go with LED fixtures because the light source was so directional and there
was too much light lost in the application, Murphy explained. “We would have also been forced to replace
the LED fixtures at 50,000 hours whereas EverLast® could operate up to 100,000
hours.”
“They
have vision for making things better, and more efficient at the Convention
Center that aligns with the City’s Green Thinking initiative. They upheld that vision with EverLast®,”
commented Sizemore.
EverLast®
induction light fixtures are 50-70% more energy efficient than metal halides
and provide a more natural and high color rendition light quality. EverLast® Induction lighting fixtures are
also available with a dimmable option, providing even more energy savings while
areas are vacant.
The
EverLast® High Bay fixtures are commonly used in large scale facilities and can
be found installed in COBO Hall in Detroit, Michigan, the Tulsa Expo Center in
Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers in Green Bay,
Wisconsin.
